The Atlanta Celtics Inc. (Celtics) have a history of sponsoring girls' basketball teams, but had never fielded more than just 1 to 2 teams in any given year. That all changed in the Fall of 2006, when Karl McCray, Renardo (Coach Nard) Hutson, Daphne Pierce-Smith, and Scot Waldrop decided to merge four (4) teams from the GA Hawks (a.k.a. NEA Hawks) with two (2) girls' team to form a girl's division known as the Atlanta Lady Celtics.
In the Fall of 2007, Coach Hudson (a.k.a. Nard) left the girl's division and formed a new girl's basketball program known as the Wallace Prather (WP) Celtics.
